BEASTS

All manner of crawling and creeping thing reside within the vast stretches of the Trenchscape - adapting to the periphorated mud wastes, the bending pipelines and old factories, the desicated battlefields, and the great cities that tower over the lands. What few still exist from the times before the Entrenching War, have been changed greatly by it - either by those fighting in the War or by the need to eat.

BELLITA (2025)

A trustworthy hound, greatly valued for their loyalty, love, and companionship. Small, but very hearty creatures, they have been known to brave even the most dire of situations, following the beckoned call of their master. Many throughout the War’s history have been awarded with medals and titles for their valor, but the most important title they have earned is being “man’s best friend”. It’s considered an ill omen to kill, let alone harm the Bellita dog.

Dedicated to Violet and Bella.

BOHOG (2024)

Bohogs mainly reside in the valleys of the Blackfinger Hills, but have been seen in lands as far as the eastern Trenchscape. Great, hulking, beasts known for their reclusive and stubborn nature (similar to the Barbed-Beards that ride them), many steer clear of them. They have been known to defend their territory with great ferocity and are known to not go down easily thanks to their thick skin. For those bold (or stupid) enough to attempt taming them, those successful enough find a steadfast companion who sticks by their side, even in the most dire of circumstances. Despite their appearance, Bohogs are herbivores, preferring to dig up the ground in search of roots and plants.

  COYOCO (2024)

Horned, mountain-fairing creatures tamed and domesticated by the Karkenzithe Djenlings for many hundreds of years. While generally too small to allow most inhabitants of Sucra-Loca to ride them, the smaller races can easily fit on them. Every year at the beginning of spring, the Karkenzithe Djenling celebrate the Coyoco-Raymi: a great festival where Coyocos from all across the mountains are ridden into the capital city of Urkuu. With their elaborate saddles adorned with bells and charms, they are then brought to the capital's great plaza where a many-thousand are sheared - their wool being used to make great coats, cloaks, and capes to protect against the next upcoming winter.

  DRAT (2026)

In the deepest parts of the Trenchscape, the effects of the War have changed the creatures that once inhabited the regions - morphing them into dangerous and hellish beasts. The Drat is a primary example. Great pack-hunters that patrol the endless wastes, scavenging amongst the corpses to eat their fill. Some areas are so consumed by the presence of Drats, even heavily equipped warbands and mercenaries avoid these areas. Exceedingly fast, very few can outrun their pace, save for the most athletic of Mandigorai. Many opt to take their chances fending off the beasts with blade and gun, leaving a single bullet for themselves should they be overrun.

“Better to die by your own hands then at the jaws of those loathsome devils.”

  DRICTOBEAST (2024)

Said to be the closest relatives to the Harqaa, both the Drictobeast and the Harqaa share many similarities. So close are they, some Harqaa can speak an ancient dialect of their language, one that the Drictobeast can understand. In appearance, outsiders unfamiliar with the lands of Nagar-Tul, can’t truly grasp the size of these creatures. So big, they are typically mistaken for great buildings - one Drictobeast having the ability to carry nearly a dozen Harqaa on their backs. Despite their great size, they are surprisingly skittish, galloping clumsily away from the slightest perception of danger. Only one legend tells of a Drictobeast ridden into battle - its bravery heavily altered by several Harqaa mages riding atop it. It was said to have caused a great deal of bloodshed against the advancing Dominion, only being brought down when an artillery salvo was called on its location.
